Study Room Policy
General Use
The library offers 11 group study rooms to support law students’ collaborative work and individual spirit of inquiry. Room reservation privileges are granted to current law students, faculty, and staff. Exceptions may be made for educational purposes on a case-by-case basis. To request an exception, email lawlibrary@uconn.edu.
- All reservations are placed on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Users are responsible for keeping the space neat and returning rearranged furniture to its proper place.
- Personally identifiable information collected during room reservation transactions is kept confidential.
- Individuals or groups that are more than 15 minutes late forfeit their reservation.
Questions and concerns should be directed to the circulation desk, emailed to lawlibrary@uconn.edu, or phoned to (860) 570-5012.
Individual and Group Student Use
Individual students, or those making a request on behalf of a study group, can reserve rooms online.
Each student may reserve a group study room for a maximum of two hours per day, up to two weeks in advance.
Students who cancel reservations prior to the start time will recoup the amount of time they canceled.
Unauthorized reservations or misuse of study rooms may be reported to the Assistant Dean of Students.
Teaching Assistants can request recurring reservations for meeting with students by completing the recurring reservation form (opens in a new tab) or emailing lawlibrary@uconn.edu.
Student Organizations
Competition organizers reserving group study rooms must complete the competition reservation form (opens in a new tab) at least two weeks in advance to ensure room availability. The library will temporarily reserve study rooms for the entire day until a detailed competition schedule is available.
A detailed competition schedule must include the specific times, rooms, and competitors in each individual round. Email the schedule to lawlibrary@uconn.edu as soon as possible, but no later than 24 hours before the first round of the day.
Noncompliance with the policy will result in the cancellation of all room reservations previously made on behalf of the student organization.
Faculty and Staff
Faculty and staff may request a single study room using the single room form (opens in a new tab), by emailing lawlibrary@uconn.edu, by phone, or at the front desk.
Faculty and staff may request multiple study rooms using the multiple rooms form (opens in a new tab), by emailing lawlibrary@uconn.edu, by phone, or at the front desk.
Library study rooms are in great demand. Faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to request rooms at least two weeks in advance to ensure availability.
Violations
Students who violate this policy also violate the Student Code of Conduct. Repeat violations may be reported to the Assistant Dean of Students and may result in the loss of reservation privileges.
